Summary

IMOSHION-logoIMOSHION (Improving Occupational Safety & Health in European SMEs with help of Simulation and Virtual Reality) is a research project that is co-financed by the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7) of the European Union.

The goal of the whole project is to raise the awareness of OSH (Occupational Safety and Health) issues for employees and managers in the SMEs of the industrial sector in order to reduce the costs and risks, in particular with building evacuation plans.

In this project, MASA Group works on the development of “Tool B”: a workplace simulation for experimenting and training in OSH issues using MASA LIFE AI-middleware to design and execute behaviours of non-player characters in the simulation.

Objectives

The project IMOSHION is implemented by 10 partners from 6 European countries that have a common interest in improving working conditions in small and medium sized enterprises in the manufacturing sector. The project focuses on two aspects: it collects existing knowledge and creates new information concerning OSH issues and it also wants to develop tools and techniques to raise awareness and improve OSH in SMEs.

Innovations

Initial work will be carried out to elicit the technological requirements of SMEs by providing the RTD performers with a further definition of the tools to be developed. The RTD performers in collaboration with the SME associations will develop the set of OSH-related tools of the IMOSHION project.

This will include :

  • (a) an OSH knowledge and learning management system,
  • (b) a workplace simulation for experimenting and training on OSH issues,
  • (c) an immersive training and learning tool for OSH procedures, and
  • (d) a planning tool for OSH prevention at workstation and workplace levels.
