The latest version of MASA’s automated wargame, which is in use throughout more than 15 countries across 5 continents for training, analysis and decision support, has just been released. SWORD 6.4 further enhances MASA’s customer benefits through a variety of new features, including new communication models that simulate radio equipment.
Pioneering developers of artificial intelligence (AI)-based simulation software, MASA Group, provides training and analysis solutions for a range of military operations and emergency management scenarios. The company’s flagship product, MASA SWORD, a wargame with automated forces used by armies to safely train command staff, is already widely deployed worldwide in more than 15 countries, including Brazil, France, Switzerland, Singapore, New Zealand, Colombia, Bangladesh and a NATO Center of Excellence.
Caroline Chopinaud and Yann Prudent from MASA have been interviewed on the implementation of Artificial Intelligence in the latest publication of Cap Digital (a French business cluster for digital content and services). From July 20th to 22nd, MASA will take part in nucl.ai, the largest worldwide conference about Artificial Intelligence applications in interactive media, training & simulations, and digital entertainment.
MASA will particularly be active in the Agent Behavior track, with a conference on “Designing realistic behaviors for a military training simulation” presented by Newfel Messouci, AI developer and behavior designer at MASA.
From June 29th to July 3rd, MASA will take part in the “Plate-forme de l’Intelligence Artificielle” at the INRIA, in Rennes (France). Held every two years, this event gathers researchers, manufacturers and students in conferences and workshops on Artificial Intelligence.
There, MASA will present papers and articles on its R&D project OCTAVIA and will also conduct a workshop.

The latest version of MASA Group’s automated wargame solution for training or decision-support, MASA SWORD, will be unveiled at ITEC 2015. The company’s reputation for providing cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based technology is further boosted by new customers in both the defense and the civil security sector.
With customers in 15 countries around the world, SWORD is rightly recognized as the world’s leading wargame with automated forces. The company has recently taken this capability a step further with the release of SWORD version 6.0. The range of new features included in this latest version is the result of a strong internal Research and Development effort that has been driven by a particularly close relationship with MASA’s growing customer base. SWORD v6 will be showcased for the first time at the ITEC exhibition and conference in Prague from 28-30 April 2015.
Next January at the 7th International Conference on Agents and Artificial Intelligence (ICAART 2015) in Lisbon, Juliette Lemaitre will present her paper “Towards a resource-based model of strategy to help designing opponent AI in RTS games”. Juliette is currently a PhD student at MASA Group and the Heudiasyc lab. She’s working on strategic behaviors in RTS games.
