French-based artificial intelligence-based, modelling and simulation provider, MASA Group has delivered a completely customised version of its wargame with automated forces, SWORD, to the Bangladesh Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC), in order to equip its Computerised War-Game Centre (CWGC). The simulation has been adapted to reflect specific requirements including the Army’s doctrine, equipment and supplies as well as its ooperational terrain.
The ARTDOC has chosen to employ SWORD for command post training from the battalion to the division level. The software enables the Army to immerse its training audience in different types of military and civil emergency scenarios. SWORD can simulate and control tens of thousands of soldiers and units.

Held in Melbourne from September 26th-29th, the SimTecT 2016 is Asia Pacific’s premier simulation conference for industry, government and academia.
In addition to MASA SWORD being showcased at the exhibition on YTEK’s booth, SWORD capacities will also be highlighted in one of the conferences.
Lieutenant-Colonel Martinez, Director at the JANUS Simulation Center (France Army Tactical Training Centre, which has been using SWORD for years) will deliver a speach on Preparing tomorrow’s Army leaders for demanding operational situations, and the role played by advanced automated simulation in their training: “Preparing tomorrow’s Army Leaders for demanding and wide ranging operational situations within dynamic and streamlined training environments is made possible by a transformative enterprise wide solution application approach and a new breed of fit-for-purpose, cost efficient and interoperable COTS solutions underpinned by advanced Artificial Intelligence based simulation technology“.

MASA Group has concluded its second SWORD User Group Meeting that this year was held at the French Army Military School in Saumur (Les écoles militaires de Saumur). The event ran in conjunction with the SIMOPS conference and exhibition, the French Army led forum on operational simulation.
SWORD is MASA’s wargame with automated forces that is used to train command staff from Division down to, on occasion, Company level. SWORD is a highly flexible and scalable training tool that is customizable to reflect national doctrine, tactics, techniques and procedures. SWORD is now in-service with 17 countries around the world as well as a number of defence integrators.
The SWORD User Group Meeting drew over 50 attendees that included current users and potential customers. The aim of the event was to discuss how SWORD is being used and to provide a forum where users and potential users could discuss case studies and national applications. User presentations were followed by demonstrations of SWORD by the French Army’s Tactical Training Centre staff that are based in Saumur. These demonstrations included a high-intensity warfighting exercise and an emergency services scenario based on a series of terrorist attacks in the center of Paris.
Organized by the French Army at the Military School of Saumur, SIMOPS (the “days of OPerational SIMulation”) is a forum dedicated to presenting the simulation systems in use by the French Army.
As well as MASA exhibiting its products at its booth, there will be various demonstrations by Army personnel of the SOULT program, which is powered by MASA SWORD. One platform will be showcasing an Emergency Preparedness scenario, while another will focus on its use for Defense purposes.
SIMOPS will be held in Saumur (France) from March 30th to April 1st. Learn more on the event ->
In this interview of Major Thierry Cadot, learn more about the SOULT programme and the French Army training capabilities.
3 December 2015, Orlando, Florida: Commandant Thierry Cadot has given exclusive insight into the use of simulation tools for training and analysis by the French Armed Forces at the international military training event, I/ITSEC in Orlando. Following twelve years of successful collaboration, the French Armed Forces have recently acquired a global license to expand its use of MASA’s flagship simulation software, SWORD.
At a joint briefing with the Paris-based training and simulation experts of MASA Group, Comm. Cadot described how SWORD is deployed at the Command Post Training Center with the objective of training division, brigade and battalion levels and is always used to train two levels at the same time. “In the French Armed Forces it is important to use simulation with a C2 (command and control) system… SWORD is at the core of this architecture“.
